Sponsorships for you
Did you know INETA sponsors your user group led events? We did mention about this in our
July 07 edition Some leaders have asked us to explain this in more detail, so here goes.

What kind of events do you sponsor?
We sponsor any kind of user group led event, whether it's a hands on lab, seminar, conference etc. You can use the sponsorship for funding the event giveaways, speaker travel, venue cost etc. The choice is yours.

How much do we sponsor?
The maximum we sponsor a group is USD1000 per year, you can use it all at once or split it up across events. We have a limited supply of funds, so first come first serve is the basic principle.

How do you request sponsorship?
Login and make a request online on the Support forum at
http://apac.ineta.org alternatively drop an email to apac.admin@ineta.org

What does INETA expect in return?
Information, details about your event, both before and after your event.
Before the event: How many attendees you expect, the dates of the event, the event schedule, speakers.
After the event: Feedback from the attendees and from you.

APAC Leader Summit
It's been some time since we've had an INETA APAC leader summit, we're constrained by the budget and we're thinking up some innovative solutions to the same. Keep watching this space for updates, and let us know if you have thoughts on what you as a leader would like to be
points of discussion.
FYI, some ideas we're working on:
1. Country leads - appointing country leads for each country we support in APAC
2. Mentorship

Call for Volunteers
We're indebted to our existing volunteers who have helped support our mission. We encourage more leaders out there to contribute their time in order to help us support groups. To volunteer please drop an email to

  • PHINUG's October Technical Sharing
    By Jasper Jugan

PHINUG had its October Technical Sharing on 24 October 2007 from 6pm-8pm. We're fortunate enough to be graced by two MVPs, and a Web Developer sharing to you some of the new/exciting things about the Web.

Thank you to all people who appeared last night in PHINUG's October Technical Sharing. Despite ending up late in the evening, I hope you guys enjoyed the night and learned something from the event. Also, thank you to the Microsoft Philippines Developer and Platform Evangelism Group (DPE) for extending their support (for the food and the freebies) for the event.

For those who weren't there, we had 3 speakers:

    - Michael Corpuz for Building Tiers for ASP.NET,
    - Eduardo Lorenzo for Spiders - Building a SEO Compliant Website, and
    - Warren Yu for Web Client Software Factories.

I guess the lack of time for Mike Corpuz was the reason why he wasn't able to cover LINQ. Here are some photos from the event last night:

Again, we would like to thank everyone for participating in this event. We heard your feedbacks and comments through the forms you submitted last night. Of course, there would still be some 'birth pains' to speak of but we would be definitely improve our future events for your convenience.

  • Discover the Passion, Witness the Spirit!
Community Technology Update, 03 November 2007
    By Lilian Quek

Decked out in their black community polo tees, in a show of love and passion for technology and the community, the influencer army of external and internal Microsoft experts and community leaders trooped down in full force to support the Community Technology Update 2007 (CTU2007) for a meaningful and rewarding experience. The event, which was organized by the Singapore Windows User Group (SWUG) and Singapore Professional .Net User Group (SGDOTNET) with support from the Singapore Office User Group (SGOG), Singapore SQL Server User Group (SGSQL) and Singapore Windows Small Business Server User Group (SBSUG), was aimed to drive and foster closer ties between User Groups and Microsoft and to bring to the community the latest on the following Microsoft technologies.

The session started off with a hearty welcome address by Microsoft Business Group Lead, KC Phua. The 115 attendees were then treated to an exciting program as this was followed by an update on the latest Microsoft technologies – divided into 2 tracks (IT Professionals and Developers) with each track lasting 75 minutes and delivered exclusively by the Microsoft experts and community leaders. There was also the Ask-the-experts session, Xbox 360 Halo 3 shootout and Windows Server 2008 Faces Campaign to keep the attendees entertained and engaged throughout the day.

The evening concluded with a light-hearted and rousing closing session by Microsoft Initiative Manager, Matthew Hardman. This was followed by a burst of fun as lucky draws were conducted, with presentation of prizes and photos taking session.

Like all previous community events, CTU2007 was a resounding success and was well-received by the attendees who looked forward to more of such events. Seizing the opportunity to learn from this event was Winston Lee from Arigoo Pte Ltd, he said, ‘I am glad that SWUG invited me to this event. The speakers gave very good tips. It was very beneficial and definitely worth spending my Saturday. I will come again for further such events and do keep up the good topics!’

Going by the commitment and enthusiasm of the community, subsequent community launches will be even better! And we owe a big “Thank You” to the organizers and behind the scenes heroes and heroines:

    Community Leaders/MVPs:
(Alvin Lau, Alan Yap, Loke Kit Kai, Dennis Chung, Dewi Maya, Eugene Tan, Lawrence Ng, Pom Figueroa, Tian-An Tan & Yizhe Shen)

    Microsoft Team:
(Chris Ismael, Chewy Chong, Howard Lo, Jeremy Tan, Jocelyn Mae Villaraza, KC Phua, Maria Green, Matthew Hardman &
