Happenings around Asia Pacific We've started the new financial year with a bang. In July, we mentioned about UG Led events, and we've had two groups who've already put in requests. Our next UG kit with custom UG logo's has begun printing and some of you should start receiving them during the last week of August, while a larger part of the groups will be receiving it during the month of September. Do let us know your thoughts on what you'd like to see in the next UG kit by dropping us an email.
Call for Volunteers We're indebted to our existing volunteers who have helped support our mission. We encourage more leaders out there to contribute their time in order to help us support groups. To volunteer please drop an email to apac.admin@ineta.org

INETA was a key supporting organization to this event.
It was a great honor to be invited by the organizers of AsiaGamesZone to speak 2 sessions to secondary students. It was my very 1st time speaking to these children from different schools. AsiaGamesZone aimed for 100,000 people to participate on this session and it was held in KLCC Convention Centre. However the Career’s Talk was just one of the events on this session.
I spoke on 2 sessions and each sessions consisted around 70 – 90 students.
-
Getting Started in Building an IT Community
I started off describing what were an IT Community and the purpose of having one. I had seen interests among the children to build something similar like Computer Clubs in the school and how they can register with INETA membership. I described the process of building one and what were the common pitfalls of building one. I had demonstrated some basic tools which were built on top of .NET to assist them in getting started. I encouraged them to start something small. I will probably drives .NET Development to these kids when they had already formed this clubs in their schools.
-
Building a Career in the IT industry
I spoke to the various opportunities jobs in the IT industry. I noticed that these kids were so fond about games development and multimedia. I guessed .NET Development was probably too new for these kids to think off right now. However beyond that I hope I can teach these kids to write basic software using C# one day. I shared my experiences in understanding the jobs requirements and helping them to understand how to find a better job through my personal experiences? As you know, most parents have advised their kids to be doctor, lawyer and accountants since young. IT was not considered as a potential career.

MIND July 2007 Monthly Chapter Meeting 7th July 2007, 2:00pm – 6:00pm Microsoft Auditorium, 29th, Tower II Kuala Lumpur City Center
By Chua Wen Ching
This time we had Adam Cogan, Australia for a special session in MIND Gathering. The turnout wasn’t that good due to our mail system failure to all of our members. MIND had to work harder to get this fix by September 2007 (before TechEd 2007).
Thanks to Ryan and Adam for taking their time to speak here. We had only 30 members who participated on this but they gave a very positive feedback about his session especially the Act. Below was the sessions shared by Adam:
-
Rules to Successful Projects
-
Rules to Better Windows Forms
-
Customising and Extending Team Foundation Server
-
Best Practices for Reporting Services
Below were some pictures taken on that day.
