Dear Valued INETA User Group Leader:
The Heroes {Community} Launch is an exclusive opportunity to work directly with Microsoft to host your own launch event around Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and SQL Server 2008 Microsoft products. The program will give you and 2 additional members of your user group the technical training and launch support resources to showcase some of the technical features of these products within your local community. Call to Action! Select up to three individuals from your user group to be a Community Launch Leader (you may include yourself as one of the three). Those you select will go through this exclusive program and will be responsible for planning and managing Heroes {Community} Launch events for your group. Once you have selected members in your group to be Community Launch Leaders, communicate the opportunity, program, and experience to them. They can register at www.heroescommunitylaunch.com by entering the following exclusive code during registration: BNGSJQ. You can nominate up to 3 Launch Leaders, exceptions will be made for large user groups. Contact communitylaunch@microsoft.com for assistance or more details. What we are looking for in a Heroes {Community} Launch leader:
- In addition to yourself, we are looking for the new or existing
leaders in your group who are eager and able to lead a technical demo and product presentation as part of their launch event.
- Individuals who are interested in (and capable of) presenting
exclusive training to broader audiences.
- Leaders who want to sharpen their speaking and technical
presentation skills.
Community Launch Timeline: Enrollment: Dec 7- Jan 13
- Instant access to the Community Launch site, with valuable
resources, forums, event readiness guidance and support
- High Level training available immediately after enrollment
- Secondary Enrollment: Jan 14 - Feb 1
Training: Jan 14-March 7
- A best-of-class virtual train-the-trainer experience
- Live Q&A with Product Group & Community Subject Matter Experts
(SMEs) Training components: 1. Speaker training and event guidance from MS and Community Experts 2. Deep technical and highly relevant (driven by community feedback and insights)
Event Execution: Begin March 17

- As a User Group Lead, this is your chance to participate in the
program as well as provide a great opportunity to the key enthusiasts and future leaders of your group.
- Select up to three individuals from your user group to be a
Community Launch Leader (you may include yourself as one of the three). Those you select will be go through this unique and exclusive program, and will be responsible for planning and managing Heroes {Community} Launch events for your group. - If helpful, share the attached presentation with your 3 nominees to
provide them with information on the Community Launch Program.
- The 3 selected Community Launch Leaders from your user group can
then register at www.heroescommunitylaunch.com by entering the following exclusive code during registration: BNGSJQ.
Once you and your fellow Community Launch Leaders submit enrollment request, you will receive confirmation and be granted access to the Community Launch portal, where you can begin preparing for your launch event. Following registration, Microsoft will coordinate with their regional subsidiaries and INETA to confirm your eligibility to receive a launch kit consistent with the program guidelines. Registration is open for a limited time only. Please note: The Heroes Community Launch portal will be updated regularly with new resources, training details, and event content to help you prepare for your launch event. The official deep technical training will be begin on 14 January, but there will be many resources for you on the site prior to training including: speaker training, event planning guidance, and marketing materials to help you promote your launch event. | As we near the end of 2007, let us re-cap some of the exciting activities organized by the various usergroups in APAC. We well also like to take this s opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Campus Reach Programme of MaduraiDotNet UG at Lady Doak College, Madurai
The MaduraiDotnet UG organized a session on .NET on 7/12/2006 at "Lady Doak College,Madurai". Padmashree, gave an "Introduction to .NET" which comprised the .NET compilation process and other basic concepts such as Namespaces and Assemblies. This was followed by a session on "Introduction to ASP.NET 2.0 & Web 2.0" by Nirmalanand comprising the ASP.NET execution model, characteristics of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. About 50 Post Graduate students from MSIT actively participated in the session. The students were also briefed about the "Imagine Cup Competition" in which we had also enrolled and the "Microsoft Student Partner Program". Training for juniors is given in every possible manner to enable them to take charge of these activities once we leave and as a small step four juniors handled the handled the Quiz Sessions that invoked good response and had a chance to review our PPTs the previous day and suggest comments. Windows Vista Launch
MIND community held the Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 System during 3rd March 2007. The event was sponsored by: Microsoft CLT Team, Microsoft Malaysia, INETA APAC, CodeMasters, DevExpress, O’Reilly, Manning, GurockSoftware, TechNation and HatchlingGames.

- LOVE Community Launch

LOVE 2007 Community Launch was held on 28th April 2007, jointly organized by Singapore .NET Professional User Group (SGDOTNET), Singapore Windows User Group (SWUG) and Singapore Office User Group (SGOG). The SG Communities were host to around 140 participants, comprising of IT Professionals, Information Workers and not forgetting the Developers. LOVE 2007 was held around the launch of Vista, Office and Exchange 2007, and there were 2 tracks (IT Pro and Developer) to cater to various audience. Topics covered range from Vista Enterprise Security features, Exchange 2007 High Availability and Clustering to Windows Workflow Enabled Applications and were delivered by 9 experts in each field. There was also a Ask-The-Expert corner, where participants could drop by and ask the experts on their burning questions and thoughts.

XNA Game Camp The XNA Game Camp was held in May which covered topics such as
- C# + XNA - Breaking into the game industry - Xbox 360 as well as a number of others.
We had around 160 members who attended the camp. Everyone enjoyed the seminar, prizes, refreshments and Xbox 360 action.

- DevCon 2007

The DevCon 2007 was organized by Pune User Group (PUG) in association with International .NET Association (INETA). It was supported by Microsoft India as well as the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) project at College of Engineering, Pune.
PUG started this initiative back in 2004 and had less than 300 students and approximately 100 professionals attended. This year has more than 150 professional and 1000+ students attended DevCon 2007.
This event enjoyed sessions from speakers like Raj Chaudhuri, Nauzad Kapadia, Dhaval Faria and Sarang Datye. These speakers covered topics like Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), New features in Visual Studio 2008 and Project Mono (implementing .NET on Linux platform).

The meet was held on 28th September (5.00 P.M to 7.00 P.M) at Assembly Hall, Shakti Engineering College. Arunkumar and Jebasingh gave a basic overview of the activities that a user group is expected to perform and opportunities for students around .Net technologies. Since the participants were from first and Second years, the session just gave an awareness about the User Group and the ways to make best utilization of the same. Students were made to realize the importance of User Group and Campus Club Activities. Over 200 students attended the meet and were benefited .Quiz was conducted and goodies were given to the winning teams. |
